| | | Tommy Wieringa’s debut novel could be called a “Bildungsnovel”. Bas Dormantique, dish-washer in a Mexican restaurant, lives with the idea that the present is less important than the past. His manco is his faultless memory, which forces him to remember his youth in every inch Bas used to have two friends, the cynic brothers Friedrich and Louis, and the love of his life Nina. As Friedrich and Louis try to convince Bas that Nina is not the right woman for him, he tries to to get grip on the three of them, but finally fails and looses them all. After that period he tries, in a forceful way, to find happiness again.
